ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
The term hypnosis comes from the name of Hypnos, the ancient god of dreams. It`s a bit like daydreaming, somewhere between being awake and asleep, with a pleasant feeling of deep relaxation. Hypnosis is an effective way of making contact with our inner, unconscious self.

WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis for therapeutic purposes.
A skillfully trained Hypnotherapist can assist you to access your
"unconscious self"( which can be the source of many of our problems, yet also a reservoir of unrecognised potential and knowledge).

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Your mind has a conscious (logical) and an unconscious part (without logic). The unconscious part controls all our habits and everything we do automatically without thinking (like driving a car, tying your shoelaces, as well as our emotional responses)
Sometimes, we get conflict between the two mind parts. You may (logically) want to be a certain way, but you find yourself doing the opposite automatically and without thinking:
-you know it makes sense to stop nail-biting, or stop smoking, yet you keep doing it, even though you don't want to.
-You may want to feel relaxed, yet you can’t help being anxious and panicky. ---You know it is illogical to be scared of a tiny spider, yet you find yourself automatically running away whenever you see one.
Hypnotherapy can usually help to resolve that inner conflict, by enabling you to access the unconscious part of your mind and reprogramme it.

WHAT THINGS COULD HYPNOTHERAPY HELP ME WITH?
More and more people are becoming interested in whether the use of hypnosis can help them solve their problems or meet their goals in life, for example:
  • Stopping smoking
  • Stopping unwanted habits such as nail biting, pulling hair...
  • Getting over fears and phobias.
  • Improve your sports or athletic performance.
  • Overcome stage anxiety/ improves stage performance.
  • Help preparing someone for an easy surgery and quick recovery.
  • It can help you heal relationships and change attitudes.
  • Help going through difficult interviews or potentially awkward situations.
  • Hypnosis can ease pain and alleviate headaches.
  • It provides a means to relax and handle stressful and difficult situations.
  • It can free your creativity, including such problems as writer's block.
  • It helps with study habits, focus, and passing exams.
  • It can help with memory and other learning problems.

... and there are many other issues that hypnotherapy can help with.

    WHAT BENEFITS COULD BE EXPECTED?
Basically, these depend on what you want Hypnotherapy to do for you:
You can expect to feel generally a bit more in control of your life, rather than life being in control of you.
You may start to become aware of potential in you that you never knew you had
You may notice others commenting on your new behaviour, either because you have stopped doing something you used to do, or you have started doing something new!
Perhaps you may start to relate better to others.
You may start to feel a whole lot better about yourself because you are doing something positive to achieve your goals in life.
